New Frame Care Instructions

Your new glasses deserve only the best care. This will support a longer lasting product and clearer, better vision.

We recommend using specialised optical lens cleaner and spray to clean your lenses, which we have included with your purchase.

It sounds obvious, when not wearing your glasses, keep them in a case and don’t wear them on the top of your head! Follow the below tips for your new frames.

How to Adjust Your Frame at Home

(Only minor self-adjustment is recommended)

If your frames don’t fit properly there are a few minor adjustments you can do at home or visit one of our stores so that we can make the necessary adjustment to ensure you get the perfect fit.

Level the Temple arms:

If your glasses look crooked or tilted heavily to one side, it is likely the result of crooked temple arms. One way to test the temple arms is to lay your glasses upside down on a flat surface. Both of the temple arms should rest evenly on the flat surface. If they do not, you will need to adjust them.

- For metal frames, gently bend the arms with small pliers (padded) until they are straight. Put the glasses on and observe in the mirror to see if they are correct.

- For plastic frames, use a hair dryer, to make the plastic pliable on the lower arms. Slowly move the plastic with your hands until it is in the desired position.

Adjust the earpieces:

If the eyeglasses are pinching or digging into your ears or the side of your head, bend the earpiece section of the arms outward. If the glasses are too loose and the glasses are slipping down off your nose, twist the earpieces inwards towards the head.

Tighten the screws on the temples:

If the glasses are sliding down your nose, tighten the screw on the temples gently with a very small screwdrivers. Take care not to over tighten the screws, or you risk damaging the plastic or metal that they are holding in place.

Fix the nose pads for comfort:

If the glasses sit too high on your face, the nose pads need to be moved further apart. If the eyeglasses sit too low, then pinch the nose pads closer together. Try to make sure you bend each of the nose pieces together or apart at equal distances to keep the symmetry of your glasses.

Care and Cleaning Tips:

- Always put glasses on and off with both hands to help maintain the original shape of the glasses or sunglasses.

- Do not place the lens down on a surface as it may result in scratched lenses. Always carry your glasses in their case.

- Keep an eye on the screws that hold the frame together and, if you find one is loose, tighten it gently with a small screwdriver.

- Keep out of the heat as it may cause lens or frame warping, so keep them away from places like the dash of your car.

- Clean your glasses regularly with lens cleaner. Then wipe them dry with the micro-fibre lens cloth.

- Alternately, rinse the glasses under gentle warm (not hot) water, rub with tiny dish detergent. Then dry with cleaning cloth or soft tissues.

How to get used to wearing Multifocals:

1. Do not wear your old glasses during the adaption period. Switching back and forth slows down the process of retraining your brain to focus through the new lenses.

2. Wear you glasses high and close to your nose bridge. This position will maximise the viewing area of each lens.

3. To see far away, keep your eyes centred and straight, move your head in the direction you want to look, and focus on the top part of the lenses.

4. To read, keep your head still, move your eyes and look through the bottom half of you lenses.

5. Be patience and take it slowly, your brain needs time to adjust. If you vision isn’t clear after a couple of weeks, please email contact your Optometrist or visit one of our stores.
